Art, especially painting, has been a life-long passion for me. I have spent most of my life creating oil paintings and mastering my technique. With my unique ideas, visions, and inspirations, painting has long lent itself as a perfect tool of expression. My paintings have been selected for exhibitions such as the Arrowhead Biennial, and my paintings, prints, and photography have made their way into private collections across the United States. I studied studio art and graphic design at the University of Minnesota Duluth from 2002 to 2006. I presently live and work in Duluth, MN.
ABOUT THE ARTWORK
I use painting as a way to express the emotional, intellectual, and social elements of being human. Specifically, I focus on the aspects of those elements which are not easily shared or explained with written words or personal conversation. Exploring this theme through painting often leads to a better understanding of interpersonal relationships, and self-reflection that becomes more clear. From literal, sometimes blatant figurative and representational paintings, to the subtle and delicate still life paintings, they all act as expressions of these aspects of humanity, seeking a fuller meaning and deeper understanding.
